April Fool

As if it weren’t enough to wake up to a fresh blanket of snow last Friday, April 1, I found the snow had pulled the cable wiring off the roof of my building. Next thing I knew, a semi tractor trailer came by and caught the long hanging cables, yanking the whole mess to the ground.

Man, oh, man. No internet and I was supposed to launch my quinoa contest.

It’s probably a good thing this happened because I learned that the contest rules I had written were blending a contest with a sweepstakes. That spells illegal lottery in many languages. :(

So, I am tweaking the rules and the entry a bit to make this a clear contest. I should have everything ready tomorrow, but in the meantime I wanted to give you a taste of the prize that will be at stake.

Grand Prize Loot

Thanks to our generous sponsors, I have assembled a quinoa prize like you wouldn’t believe.

  1. Wow, some very cool prizes! Making my mouth water, here.

  2. Cindy G. says:

Wow! That’s a lot of yummy sounding stuff! Bummer about your cable, however…

  3. Rob says:

My GF got me one of the Alter Eco quinoa chocolate bars and a bag for their red quinoa for valentines day this year…I’m not a huge dark chocolate fan, but the bar was really good.

And the Earthy Delights is the brand of quinoa I get at Costco all the time now. Tho are they and Earthy Choice the same company? The packages are pretty much identical except the name.

      Hi Rob,

Earthy Delights and Earthly Delights are two different sponsors, and yes, that was as confusing for me as it might be for you.

Here you can see the Earthy Delights website. They sell dried mushrooms and other specialty ingredients under their label in stores and online. At this time, Earthy Delights quinoa is not placed in any stores, so it is only available online.

Earthly Delights is a different company (see Earthly Delights/Nature’s Earthly Choice/Global Juices website ) that started out selling juices and then expanded into quinoa. I buy this quinoa as Nature’s Earthly Choice in packaging that looks just like the Earthly Delights you are describing (only the names have been changed :) ). When I look at their site, I see only the Nature’s Earthly Choice branding at this time, but I hear Earthly Delights is sold in Publix stores as well.

      Thanks for calling that out.
